Micro-credit is intended for socially-excluded individuals, or those at risk of being so (unemployed, inactive, etc.) and for micro-entrepreneurs not having access to traditional bank credit.
In Brussels, several stakeholders offer personal (loan generally below €3,000) or professional micro-credits.
Brusoc
The Open Up programme of finance&invest.brussels (Brusoc) targets self-employed individuals operating as natural persons. It provides financing of up to €30,000, with a repayment period ranging from one to five years. Applicants must contribute a minimum personal input of 3% of the loan amount.
Microstart
MicroStart aims to support entrepreneurs who are excluded from the traditional banking system by providing micro-credit financing to help them start or grow their own business. The organisation emphasises a personal, human approach, focusing on open dialogue with the entrepreneur and on the project they wish to develop.
