Is a plot polluted?
To find out if a plot may be polluted, or is polluted, you can check the state of the soil inventory:
- via an online map that shows the different categories.
- via an official soil certificate which you pay for and which details restrictions on use.
When do you need to confirm the state of the soil?
Certification of the state of the soil identifies potential soil or ground water pollution and documents its characteristics and extent.
Unless you have been granted a waiver, identification of the state of the soil is required in many cases : coincidental discovery of pollution, sale of a potentially polluted property, environmental permit request for risky activities for the soil, etc.
Studies and remediation can benefit from significant funding if you aren’t the polluter. In addition, companies (whether they have polluted or not) can receive subsidies, including for consultancy services.
