Credendo
La société Credendo a pour objectif de soutenir le commerce international belge par l’octroi de garanties et d’assurances.
Credendo is a public institution whose main mission is to use insurance products to cover the risks of non-payment or breach of contract for companies exporting to distant destinations outside Europe. This gives exporting companies the necessary confidence and the opportunity to explore new international markets.
Credendo operates both on its own and in consortium with banks, other financial partners or insurers.
Missions
Its public mission to support the Belgian economy comprises 4 activities:
Credit insurance for exporting companiesFinancial guarantees for banks that finance exportersFinancing of export transactions up to €8 million, over a maximum period of 5 yearsInsurance for investments abroad
Belgian companies wishing to invest in a foreign subsidiary can also turn to Credendo for insurance cover for their investments. Credendo covers political risks linked to violence, embargoes, expropriation, business interruption, inconvertibility and restrictions on currency transfers, etc.
Credendo offers a commercial range of insurance solutions. Established in 15 countries, Credendo is now the fourth largest credit insurance group in the European market.
Its commercial insurance products include:
- Global insurance policies for short-term commercial credits that companies grant each other for terms of 30 to 90 days, and even 180 days
- Guarantees that companies must provide as part of calls for tender or contracts, and legal bonds
- Specific insurance, such as excess of loss (cover against catastrophic damage) or top up (additional capacity for global insurance policies)
- Reinsurance for large projects or the export portfolios of other insurers.
